Pixel By Pixel: An Up-Close Look At ARKK's Nordic Camo Pack

ARKK Copenhagen is, once again, pushing the limits. Included in our upcoming Spring Summer '18 Collection is the exciting new 'Nordic Camo Pack,' our first ever capsule collection (Nordic Camo drops on Jan 31, 2018). By combining our minimalist silhouettes with a custom-designed, Nordic-inspired camouflage upper, we continue to explore the limitless potential of what a sneaker can be.

Introducing 'Nordic Camo' from ARKK Copenhagen

With the upcoming 'Nordic Camo Pack' capsule collection release (on Jan 31), ARKK Copenhagen is, once again, pushing the limits. By combining our minimalist silhouettes with a custom-designed, Nordic-inspired camouflage upper, we continue to explore the limitless potential of what a sneaker can be.

Innovation, Handcrafted Pixel By Pixel 

With countless other camo designs out there, we knew we had to innovate rather than imitate if we were going to properly incorporate camo into the ARKK universe. So that's exactly what we did; we started from the ground up and designed a custom 'Nordic Camo' print, pixel by pixel. Here's how we did it...

Traditional military-style camo prints start with organic, nature-inspired round shapes. By contrast, ARKK's innovative Nordic Camo takes its basic geometry from architecture rather than nature. This means that sharp edges form the basic building blocks of the  Nordic Camo design. After selecting the four colors that would make up this new camo pattern, the design team at ARKK invest +100 hours developing and composing several trial patterns before settling on the final version you see below.

When the pattern is printed on the collection's custom mesh uppers, the print appears somewhat disrupted, adding to the Nordic Camo strikingly distinct appearance.

Colorways Inspired by Scandinavian Landscapes 

Although this is the first time ARKK has incorporated camo into a collection, the muted tones of the Nordic Camo Pack remain true to the brand's design DNA. Each of the colors chosen for the pattern were sourced directly from the Nordic landscape, specifically, inspiration was taken from the sand dunes of western Denmark, the lush green forests of Sweden, and the verdant shades of blue-green found in and around the Norwegian fjords.

Nordic Camo Arrives Jan 31 at 1:00 PM CET

For Spring Summer '18, ARKK Copenhagen’s Nordic camo print will appear as a limited edition across the uppers of three signature lines: Raven Mesh S-E15, Eaglezero Mesh S-E15 and Pythron S-E15.
